The railroad, although not as dominant as it once was in the 19th and early 20th centuries, still criss-crosses all over the United States. It also carries messages to some of the most rural and poor areas of this country, a natural continuation of the art form's origins on the subway cars of the cities. Consider it the mobile “street art” of the Midwest.
